  • Misc

These amphibious creatures are primarily found near shallow water, but are equally acclimatized to living deep underwater or resting on platforms sometimes high above the water table of Maridia. Their dorsiventrally-flattened profile helps to camouflage their bodies on the ground and also conceals their surprising high vertical attack range. When a target comes within 3 or 4 meters, Chutes will gather their strong rajiform flaps and acrobatically push themselves high off of the ground, where they will then spread to their full form and glide slowly back and forth to the surface. For smaller prey, Chutes will preferably try to land on top of their target, but even for larger intruders, they will try to latch on and suck away energy like a leech.

These creatures are quite easy to spot, as their yellow-colored eyes appear to protrude off the ground. Chutes can be easily killed with strong beam weaponry, a single missile, or a single Grapple Beam shot.

Zebesian Chutes are similar to the Chute Leeches from SR388, and appear to be another subspecies.
