These specialized combat Zebesians patrol one of the rooms leading up to Ridley, and have the strongest defenses out of the ones previously encountered. Unlike the other Zebesians that use laser weaponry, these acrobatic pirates will throw claw-like weapons at their opponents and fight using strong kick attacks.

Don’t travel too far into the room, or Samus will have to fight both pirates simultaneously. Try to fight one at a time if possible. They have a close range kick and can throw projectiles when their target is at a far distance, but their main offensive maneuver is a jumping kick attack. Their only vulnerable state is when they perform this flying attack and momentarily turn from silver to gold. Try to lure them into performing this attack by jumping at moderate distances around them, and then quickly shoot them with fully charged Plasma Beam shots.

Due to their strength and agility, as well as their color, they are lovingly known in many fan circles as the "Ninja Pirate." While they will momentarily turn yellow when attacking, they shouldn’t be confused with the Gold Zebesians, which were vulnerable to Screw Attack. After fighting Mother Brain, Samus will encounter these Black Zebesians again while escaping Tourian and entering the lower region of Crateria.
