(aka Mega Core-X) This Core-X has fully absorbed the power of the Varia suit. The Varia Core-X is the boss of the Nocturnal Sector of the BSL station. Its main attack consists of trying to ram you. It seems to be surrounded by smaller versions of itself, which it uses as a barrier of protection. The Varia Core-X was proof that the X-Parasite was able to merge and replicate not only with organic material, but with digital data as well.

Fortunately, the Varia Core-X poses little threat. Other than its size, this boss is hardly intimidating, but Missiles are ineffective against it. Charge up your Charge Beam. If you have enough energy tanks, jump directly into it and then shoot the Charge Beam directly at its main body. It will hurt you, but if you do it properly, you will destroy a few of the miniature Core-X’s, and also score a hit on the main Core. It will die after 4 direct hits, and reduce back into a normal Core-X. From there, use the normal strategies to defeat it.

The Varia Core-X is the only boss in Fusion that is just a larger, more powerful version of the normal Core-X, whereas all the other bosses are mutated versions of other organisms.
