When Samus discovers what seems to be an easy-to-reach Missile Tank and Energy Tank on the BSL Station, she is met with a big surprise! The X are not limited to mimicking organic creatures, and have the ability to change into intelligence-made technology and even inorganic statues.

The Energy Tank Mimic is found in Sector 5 and the Missile Container is found in Sector 6. After the creatures are defeated, real versions of these collectible items are able to be found in the same rooms.

The Energy Tank Mimic is easily destroyed with a Missile. Bomb the wall to discover a real Energy Tank.

The Missile Tank Mimic is destroyed with a Super Missile. The wall can then be bombed to discover a real Missile Tank.

These creatures are also known as "False" and "Fake" versions of what they are posing as. In the Official Japanese Metroid Fusion Strategy Guide, they are labeled with the name Mimic (ミミック).
