Most Geruda tilt their whole bodies upward and downward for rising and diving attacks, but the Geruda-X primarily fly right-side-up and often in longer sideways directions, gliding swiftly and attacking their targets with their large and bulky hand claws. Like their natural Zebesian form in Norfair, Geruda-X thrive in hot environments and are perfectly accustomed to the ultra-heated sections of the PYR sector.

Other strange manifestations of this creature family comes in the form of the massive Geruboss, which is found in Sector 1 (SRX) and the freezing habitat of Sector 5 (ARC).

When first encountered in Sector 3, the best way to kill Geruda is with a full Charge Beam shot or a Charge Spin Attack.

If you do not immediately absorb the X-Parasite after destroying a Geruda-X, it will transform into a Sidehopper-X.

Geruda is yet another Metroid creature that falls to into the "mistranslated" category. The creature was named "Geruta" in North America where it is actually "Geruda" in Japanese texts. Da (ダ) and Ta (タ) are written the same, but the special Dakuten marks signify it to be read as "Dah" and thus could have been an easy oversight of the localizer.
