  • Misc

A few of these infected Hornoad variants roam about the Main Deck, but the majority of them live in the simulated SR388 environments in Sector 1. Compared to their natural form, the Hornoad-X are much more aggressive: spitting out acidic projectiles, rabidly gnashing their teeth together, and sometimes leaping down from consecutive ledges and platforms in order to pursue their target.

The rocky habitats of Sector 1 provide some varied terrain for these frog-like creatures to navigate, and the faux-cave ecosystem also appears to offer some limited protection. Uninfected Hornoads dwell back in the darker parts of the habitat, where they can be observed jumping out of strange pulsating nests in the ground. These Hornoads won’t stray too far from the protection of the nest, but they appear to be somewhat relaxed and drowsy, making them an easy target for any nearby X parasites to infect.

It was an X parasite from a defeated Hornoad-X that almost killed Samus at the beginning of the mission, there's no need to worry about infection because of the Metroid vaccine. Show no restraint and rapidly fire away with two Normal beam shots or with a Missile.

The Japanese name for this creature is “Noad” (ナード).
