Gelon is a massive cluster of X, whose sole purpose is to be a barrier or clog, hindering Samus from making progress. It is unknown if the X willingly transform into Gelons in certain areas with the intent to stop Samus, or that they are just stationed in very inconvenient spots throughout the BSL. Depending on the color of the Gelon, Samus must use different weaponry to destroy them.

Gelon are non-aggressive. They are merely organic barriers that must be destroyed first in order to bypass.

Green/Magenta: Destroyed with three normal Missiles.

Purple/Blue: Three Super Missiles or Two Diffusion Missiles will destroy this type.

Cyan/Yellow: Take it out with a Power Bomb, but you can also use Shinespark.

It is very possible that the Gelon is mimicking another organism that Samus encounters on Zebes during her Zero Mission, but that theory is only due to a physical resemblance.
