These single-minded creatures hang upside-down from the ceiling while curiously spinning their wings around their body. Skrees will perform a spinning dive bomb attack towards any intruders that pass underneath them. Whether they miss or not, Skrees will proceed to burrow into the ground, and chips of their exoskeleton will break off at high speeds, inflicting secondary damage.
Skrees can be easily killed with a single shot from any beam weapon. Their attack can be evaded by quickly dashing past them or shooting them from a distance. If firing at them from an angle, don’t stay too close, as they will explode, and their falling shrapnel can still cause a small amount of damage.
It’s unclear exactly whether the Skrees survive after diving into the ground. Early titles described the pieces of shrapnel as rocks dislodged from their burrowing, while games like Other M never showed Skrees exploding upon hitting the impenetrable floor, and instead had them return to the ceiling.
