A strange flying creature with large, powerful forearms. Gerutas move up and down, swooping to attack their prey. Their high blood temperature and thick armor plated skin allows them to thrive in the super-heated areas of Norfair. The Geruta uses its large forearms as rudders, letting them dip through the air with ease. They also release a special oil through the glands on the bottom of their feet which can ignite due to the heat, and lets them move even faster.
Ice Beam these guys or use Missiles. Gerutas can be quite difficult to dodge, so be very attentive to what's above you when traversing the super-heated rooms of Norfair -- and hopefully you've brought a Varia Suit along!
