Zebesian (Gray)

The first Zebesian encountered in the game. Zebesians are the standard drone of the Space Pirate army. What they lack in intelligence they make up for in numbers. Zebesians are recognized by their huge “lobster-claw” hands, thick, armored carapace, and feet that curl up at the end. Space Pirates are known to merge weaponry and technology into their bodies, but a Zebesian’s weaponry could possibly be organic. Grays are the lowest rank in the Space Pirate army and are tasked to patrol the first Tourian, specifically Mother Brain’s chamber and the escape shaft, which were destroyed during Samus' first mission through Zebes.

Extremely easy to defeat. A single shot from a normal power beam will destroy them. Gray Zebesians crawl along the escape shaft and jump back and forth. Use this predictable pattern to easily bypass their efforts.

The Gray Zebesians do not appear until the Morph Ball is collected and you are “spotted” by the security beam located high on the wall. Note that although the Zebesians are not native to the planet Zebes, they have taken on that name after destroying the planet's Chozo civilization and claiming the world as their own, eventually taking its name in the process.
