Gravitts are crab-like creatures that live in sandy pits and burrow into the stone of SR388’s Chozo ruins using their sharp claws. Their hard shells resemble stalagmites or natural spikes. It protects them from predators and blends in with the sand, making them hard to detect until stumbled upon. If disturbed, they will quickly dig out from the sand and skitter to dig a new burrow.

Watch out for sandy pits and outer walls of Ruins Area 3. The Gravitt lurks in these areas and is camouflaged as white spikes, making them difficult to detect.

The Japanese name is “Guru-Baru” (グルバル), possibly an onomatopoeic reference to its the turning and scratching it does when it burrows. The concept art is shown with the Gravitt upside-down, but they never appear on the ceiling.
