  • Misc

Giant bat-like creature that hunts in the lower-most reaches of SR388’s catacombs. The Drivel’s name-sake is a highly caustic saliva it disgorges from a gland in its mouth, consisting of gastric acids and undigested biological matter. This corrosive substance is used to attack and paralyze land-bound prey, as well as a means of purging its body of waste and toxins, and the hazardous sputum will splash explosively. The cavern floor of Drivel nests are covered in a thick layer of this substance, which stains the rocks with a pinkish lime.

The Drivel remains aloft through the regulation of a helium-like gas stored in its wings, a compound it also generates through digestion. This ravenous predator has two large eyes have evolved to detect the infrared spectrum. Its massive circular jaws are capable of consuming any object roughly the size of a human skull, so great caution must be taken when exploring their habitat.

The Drivel flies back and forth in an arc, occasionally spitting out giant blobs that will explode upon impact. The blobs have a wide splash radius, but Samus is dealt more damage on contact with the Drivel than by the blobs themselves. The Drivel will drop these blobs more frequently when Samus gets close. As they appear in the same room as Skreeks, they are best cleared out to provide easier progress. Drops Missiles.

Drivels, like Skreeks, appear in only one cave in the entire game, in the lower-most reaches of the Main Caverns.
