A large bioluminescent arachnomorph that clings to the walls of the caverns deep below SR388. Its abdomen contains luciferant organs that react with magnesium and oxygen to emit a soft glow, the only natural light found beneath the surface of SR388. These organs make the Glow Fly one of the few subterranean creatures on SR388 that can observe the visible light spectrum.

The Glow Fly has developed a rudimentary communications system, flashing its abdomen in different patterns to attract mates, warn about predators, and indicate food sources. For this reason, biolinguists took particular interest in the Glow Fly, but unfortunately, no samples were collected prior to the destruction of SR388.

Although the Glow Fly’s name suggests it has wings, it has no flight ability and might best be named the “Glow Flea”: when threatened, the Glow Fly will curl in its abdomen and leap off the wall at high speeds, ramming anything that comes close with its thick armor.

Glow Flies cling to the walls in narrow shafts. They will stay motionless on the walls for a few seconds, then flash and leap quickly to the opposite wall. Although they are interesting to look at, be careful, as the Glow Fly will deal a considerable amount of damage on impact. They are best destroyed from a distance or Screw Attacked through. Any beam can take them out easily. Drops a small Energy Ball.

The Japanese name of the Glow Fly is simply "Glow" (グロー). It is unknown why they were named the “Glow Fly”, as they do not have wings.
