Zoomers anchor themselves to walls and other surfaces. Zoomers are protected by a spiny shell that covers a basic nerve center located directly above the mandibles. This nerve center is able to detect nutrients, which the Zoomers digest. Sharp spines protect them from casual predators, but the lack of a reinforced carapace makes them vulnerable to persistent foes and any indirect attacks. Avoid contact with their spikes.

After landing on Tallon IV, this is one of the very first creatures you can kill. Much like their 2D incarnations, Zoomers slowly walk along the ground and walls, waiting for you to run into them at inopportune moments. Shoot them with basic weaponry from a distance before you accidentally step on them, and look before you leap.

Knowing full well the translation errors of Zoomers and Geemers between the Japanese and North American versions of Metroid, Retro Studios made two separate creatures out of them, stating Geemers are part of the same biological family as Zoomers.
