The Parasite is an interstellar vermin that travels in swarms and is indigenous to Tallon IV. The Space Pirates chose this species because of their apparent resilience, and their early Phazon experiments proved extremely successful. Parasites grow from eggs laid by the Parasite Queen, and their tough exoskeletons protect them from their mother's acidic embryonic fluid. After mutation, the carapace of the larva becomes rigid. This carapace is resilient, able to resist attacks from many predators. A single Parasite is harmless to larger life forms. However, they tend to travel in large groups, swarming over potential prey.

Should be one of the very first enemies you face in the game. Can be easily taken out with a single shot from your arm cannon. Be sure to wipe that goo off your visor!

While Parasites will also attack en masse during the Frigate Orpheon escape sequence, they will thankfully deal little damage, so you are only in danger if your health is already low.

This creature is a rare scan, as it is only encountered on the Frigate Orpheon.

Though the scan data says they are indigenous to Tallon IV, this particular type is never encountered on the surface of the planet.

Due to its similarities, and their description as "interstellar vermin" it's very possible that the Zebesian Roach from Super Metroid was an inspiration for the creation of this creature.
