Polyps are exhaust shafts that expel waste from the Space Pirate base’s systems. Despite being bathed in lava, the radioactive material has become poisonous and the slag must be purified in the fires of Norfair. Though the Polyp has no sensors to detect intruders, it expels the waste matter at high speeds and irregular intervals, making these waste ports wise to avoid.

Polyps are invincible and spit out fireballs in an arc at random intervals. Wait for a gap to make your move and avoid standing near them for an extended period of time.

Due to a programming bug, sometimes a Polyp will not spit out any fireballs, making it easy to bypass.
