Fake Kraid is identical to Kraid in every way, except he has dark skin and hair and is far weaker. He does not quite have the intelligence of his older brother, though this is probably not saying much. Still, his attacks are terrible, his appearance unnerving. Those who defeat Fake Kraid might think they have defeated the hideout’s miniboss and will return to Brinstar without one of the two keys required to unlock Tourian.

Fake Kraid will attack by shooting spikes out of his chest and throwing sharp claws from his back. However, he can be destroyed with a single missile blast or Screw Attack, so is a pushover compared with Kraid. You can tell you are fighting Fake Kraid by his dark complexion and his location: in the middle of a long hallway rather than in a chamber all to himself. He will regenerate as soon as you leave the room.

Fake Kraid could be an adolescent version of Kraid or a clone. His presence in Metroid was never fully explained.
