Zeebetites are the life-support system of Mother Brain, providing the necessary organic nutrients and flushing out waste matter. It is for this reason she is called the “Mechanical Life-Vein”. The actual Zeebetite is contained within a thick glass-like organic membrane that will shrink and swell based on the health of the Zeebetite. The membrane will also reflect any beam attacks, and can only be destroyed by missiles. Zeebetites will regenerate when damaged and can only be completely destroyed by severing the connection. They also serve as a barrier to Mother Brain’s lair and are heavily defended by Rinkas and laser turrets.

Zeebetites will slowly regenerate over time, so can only be destroyed through a constant stream of missile blasts that sever the connection. Freeze the Rinkas while avoiding the turrets to give yourself some time to blast the Zeebetite. They will take at least 10 missiles to destroy, and you can destroy them more quickly by standing next to them.

Once Zeebetites are destroyed, they are destroyed for good, and they will not regenerate if you die. Zeebetites appeared in the Space Pirate base on Bryyo as an easter egg for long-term Metroid fans. Dan Owsen has also speculated that Zeebetites are made from raspberry jam.
