Service droid designed to dispose of garbage and pests using a flamethrower. They operate in the waste repositories of the Chozo ruins. A thick alloy protects them from being punctured by falling garbage and is impervious to corrosion while a small nuclear reactor keeps them running indefinitely. Normally they will not activate when the waste dumps need servicing, but their programming has malfunctioned after years of neglect and they will shoot flames at anything they identify as “garbageâ€.
The Autom is indestructible, so can only be avoided. However, the Autom drops fire randomly, though usually in one-second intervals. It is best to stand out of their range of movement and wait for it to drop fire as it moves for you, then quickly run underneath. However, they deal so little damage, you can just run beneath and hope for the best.
