Large flying insectomorph found in the lower reaches of SR388. A large compound eye composes the majority of the Pincher Fly’s body, along with its namesake massive pincers. It uses the latter to slice open its meal, then insert a proboscis to extract fluids. It can also inject a powerful necrotic venom through a massive stinger that rapidly liquifies the infected area. The Pincher Fly is an opportunist that is not aggressive by itself, but will attack prey in swarms and also scavenge. They are usually found in large numbers in dark shafts, hovering near warm air currents.

The Pincher Fly just flies back and forth. They are normally found in shafts in large numbers, which makes them difficult to avoid, so usually must be cleared out to proceed unharmed. However, you can also take the damage and perform a mid-air jump to more rapidly ascend certain shafts. Other than that, it is identical to the Yumbo, Seerook, and TPO.

The Japanese name is just “Pincer” (ピンサー), so a strict translation of the name would be “Pincer Fly”.
