This enormous carnivorous aquatic creature capable of traveling at ultra-high speeds was infested by the X. An active hunter, Serris will strike its prey at high speeds, clocked at over 200kph, swallowing smaller creatures whole or tearing small chunks out of larger prey. Its voracity is unmatched, as Serris is also known to snatch creatures from the shoreline or on boats in the middle of the ocean. With an elongated body and flexible skeleton, Serris can also travel through tight passages at high speeds, while its thick armored plating protects it from attack. For these reasons, the B.S.L scientists had been studying Serris’ potentials as a versatile aquatic bioweapon, capable of infiltrating underwater bases or sinking ships.

In murky water, its bioluminescent underbelly glows eerily. Its weak spot is its skull, which has thinner transluscent cartilage over the brain. Serris uses this to create an iridescent glow used to attract prey and mates, depending on the patterns used. Serris is also territorial and will settle on its place of birth as its home, fiercely defending it from any intruder.

Serris has three types of attack: snake-like weaving around the platforms, long arcing jumps over the water, and straight dashes across the floor and ceiling. His weak spot is in the head: damage it with Charge Beam or missiles. After he is hit, Serris will charge at full speed. This can be a rather confusing fight due to Serris’ high speed, but there is a relative safe spot that is easy to exploit. Stand in the middle of the third platform from the left, right below the hanging vent and ladder. This spot is relatively safe, as Serris cannot hit you when he jumps in his wide arcs, and if grab hold of the ceiling immediately above, his snake-like weaving and high arcs can’t hit you. When Serris begins snaking around the platforms, stay off the ceiling, as he will follow through with an overhead strike. To damage Serris, stand on the platform and shoot him as he performs a wide loop. Then jump back on the ceiling and hang there until he either uses his weaving attack or stops glowing. Rinse and repeat.

Defeat the Type A Core-X using missiles, and you will be rewarded with the Speed Booster.

The Japanese name for Serris is “Ishtar” (イシュタル), after the fickle Assyrian and Babylonian goddess of fertility, love, war, and sex. Serris’ abilities have no relation to the mythological figure. Serris' skeleton can be seen in the breeding tank just outside of the boss room.
