Although Yard were previously discovered on Zebes, Biological Science Labs obtained several specimens for study within the aquatic sector. When infected by the X Parasite, the strength of the Yard's shell increases tenfold, growing three large spines. The creature clings to the coral-encrusted walls of the sector and nestles in rocky crevices. The Yard-X uses these spines to focus energy stored within its shell, firing a hook-shaped plasma field at any non-infected creature that draws near.
