The Ing are fascinated by Metroids and their connection to Phazon. It is not a shared fascination, as the Metroids will attack the Ing on sight. Recognizing their strength, Ing darklings have possessed a number of Metroids, turning them into powerful soldiers of the Horde.

Light Beam shots are effective, but in traditional Metroid fashion, you can also use the Ice-Beam-esque Dark Beam to "freeze" them and blast them with a missile. They can also be destroyed with a well-placed Screw Attack. If you don't have any of this weaponry when encountering them, it's best to just run away! If they latch onto you, immediately Morph and drop some Bombs.

In Phazon Grounds room found in the Sky Temple, a Dark Tallon Metroid can be seen carrying around a dead Pirate Trooper in its mouth.
