These crustacean-like creatures can travel far distances, steadily climbing up high rocky walls and around a variety of different surfaces. There is a higher population of yellow Zeelas throughout Kraid, but red Zeelas are stronger and have a more durable exoskeleton. They can survive even when completely submerged in acid. The red Zeela’s large eyeballs contain volatile substances and will detach and explode if their bodies are destroyed.

Red Zeelas can be killed with all standard weaponry. While it won't cause as much damage as bumping into them, watch out for their falling eyeballs after they are killed.

For comparison, it takes 3 individual shots with an Ice Beam to kill a Red Zeela, while it takes 2 for a Yellow Zeela.

Zeelas have a sufficient climbing grip to support their weight, but the impact of a Super Missile on a nearby surface can knock them off the walls or ceiling.
