Metroid Fusion & NSO MPR Switch Icons

Fusion released today on Nintendo Switch Online’s GBA service. It’s part of their “Expansion Pack” extra option which you must pay $50 for a year to access. Check out this release trailer Nintendo made just for this game:

Also of note is today is the final day you can redeem your Nintendo Platinum Points to get the first Wave of custom avatars from Metroid Prime Remastered. Wave 2 starts tomorrow so get on it if you want them all!

Art of Nintendo Power – Metroid Prime Comic linework

Elite collector and all-around retro video game badass Stephan Reese, aka Art of Nintendo Power (@artofnp), posted this up a year ago, but it’s never too late to share. He owns many of the original pencil drawings from the Metroid Prime Nintendo Power comic that we recently uploaded to our new comics page. See them all in the video below:

I’ve also added all of the Captain N comics. Slowly but surely, they’ll all be in there some day!

New Comics Section…Incoming!

Today was a hard work day for me on the site. Spent nearly 10 hours straight working on it, no joke.

All this work was due to me needing to convert and rebind every single one of our comics into a single-page .pdf format for our…

NEW COMICS SECTION!

…but, I’m not even halfway finished yet. So at least I have a new project to work on. More comics and manga will be added to this page as time goes by. Hoping to finish everything up by the end of the month.

But in the meantime, you can enjoy our new page with our new comic book reader. I think you’ll agree it looks amazing.

Keep in mind: It’s best to view these on a PC or a landscape-rotated mobile device.

It’s been a great pleasure to look through these comics again and I hope you will have fun too. Enjoy.

MPR Profile Pics Coming Soon… Japan Only?

Japanese users who have already purchased Metroid Prime Remastered received this email a few days ago, detailing that those subscribing to the Nintendo Switch Online service will be able to use their Nintendo points to buy MPR themed profile pics. They’ll be made available for only 2 weeks: March 3rd through March 17th.

Let’s hope this is worldwide. We haven’t heard anything official yet, but fingers crossed. It’s about damn time we got more Metroid-themed avatars, despite these being behind a NSO paywall.

New Bonus Ep on Metroid Origins by A Critical Hit!

You may remember we shared her first video back in November of last year.

Kate has just released an addendum video which I believe is the final nail in the coffin that asserts that Metroid’s greatest influence isn’t Alien… it’s Space Adventure Cobra.

DYKG? Lost Metroid Games

Incredible research and investigative journalism by the Did You Know Gaming? team. There were three distinct Metroid projects that never saw the light of day. Out of those, only one had maintained development, but in the end it eventually was transformed into what we know as Metroid Prime Federation Force. The other two were Metroid Tactics and the ever-elusive Metroid 64 – both of which may have only got to the pitch document phase.

MoonUp Makes New Samus & Joey Advert (Translation)

Just recently this past November 11th, Idzuki Kouji, aka MoonUp, aka the author of the Samus & Joey manga, created a brand new advertisement to celebrate the release of Samus & Joey 1-3 now being distributed officially as e-Books. Idzuki-san’s tweet can be found below:

And of course, we’ve translated it for you into English courtesy of long-time contributor Devin M aka CapCom. Enjoy!

And in case you needed to be reminded, we still host the unofficial scanlation of all 4 volumes of Samus & Joey right here.
