MDb news since 1996.
Yes it's finally here (at least in North America), after along time of waiting, Nintendo's new console has arrived. With it Nintendo's game enter the HD era, and online connectivity is greater than ever. There are also lots of great game being released today, like New Super Mario Bros U, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and Nintendo Land so I think it's safe to say that this is one of the best launch line ups for a Nintendo console in recent memory. While there is no Metroid game for the console announced as of now, we can take some time to enjoy other games from previous Metroid developers.
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge, is the much improved version of Team Ninja's Ninja Gaiden 3 which was released earlier this year on PS3 and XBOX 360. You may remember that the original game was critically panned, and MDb even wrote a small piece about it. However, Yosuke Hayashi and his team have been hard at work improving the game, while it may still not be a classic, it is now worthy of being in the series. Razor's Edge also features a story mode for the ninja Ayane, and free DLC characters like Momiji available this December.
Warriors Orochi 3: Hyper, a game from Team Ninja's parent company Tecmo Koei. Pick your favorite warriors from ancient China and feudal Japan and go on a quest to save the world. The Warriors series is a guilty pleasure of mine, so while I can say that they're not the best games out there, they are really fun. Team Ninja's Ryu Hayabusa, Ayane, Rachel, and Momiji also appear in this game as crossover characters.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2, a fighting game from Namco Bandai Games, this is the enhanced version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 which was released earlier this year. This game features a mode where mushrooms from the Super Mario Bros series changes the size of the characters accordingly. This game also features Nintendo themed costumes, including a Zero Suit Samus costume from Metroid: Other M.
Nintendo Land, a mini-game compilation from Katsuya Eguchi's team at EAD. This game features games based off of F-Zero, The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros, Luigi's Mansion, Balloon Fight, Yoshi, Murasame's Mysterious Castle, Octopus, Animal Crossing, Donkey Kong, and of course Metroid. We'll keep covering Metroid Blast as more details are discovered, so keep on checking in.
Game & Wario, this game from Intelligent Systems and Yoshio Sakamoto's team won't be available at launch, but should be out early next year. Another entry in the crazy WarioWare series, this one uses the Wii U GamePad as it's central theme. Good to see you keeping busy Wario!
Retro's New Game: We have no idea what it is, but we're sure it'll be something special when it launches. We hope to see this game at E3 next year.
Ah, you're still here? Well, don't forget once you have your Nintendo Network ID head on down to forums and make some friends. Hope to see you all on Miiverse!
