Happy 16th Anniversary to the Metroid Database! Whew, it's been a long last few months, I must say. Metroid news has slowed down to little more than a slowly dripping trickle, and all we get are two awesome action figures, a Metroid-themed minigame in a WiiU launch title, and a cameo in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (see below). I guess something is better than nothing, eh? More than enough reason to party like it's 1996!

We bring you two new things today: the first being Episode 6 of our podcast, Wave Beam! In this episode, we cover Metroid Prime 2 Echoes. It goes on for over 2 hours! I was joined by Capcom, Aurora Unit, rondus18, and our newest staff member James Pierce, who could unfortunately only chat with us due to technical difficulties. We hope you enjoy it!

The second being our latest annual contest! This year we are asking entrants to design a Metroid scene in a unique art style. Any style your imagination can come up with! For questions or concerns, please visit the official contest thread. The contest will last from today until the end of the year, 12/31/2012. So you have plenty of time to create something beautiful and unique for us. I really look forward to seeing the entries!
