MDb news since 1996.
Coming from the people at Kotaku, they recently had an interview with Nintendo of America COO, Reggie Fils-Amie. In this interview, Reggie let out one bombshell about the possibility of GameCube games appearing on the Wii U's Virtual Console service.
Now, of course this doesn't confirm or deny anything, but it does leave the possibility open for GameCube games. In my personal opinion, I think GameCube games will come at some point, as the Wii U is not backwards compatible with GameCube games.
For those people who haven't been able to pick up the Metroid Prime Trilogy, this will obviously allow you to play the first two parts of the Prime trilogy on your shiny new Wii U's. As always, we will keep close tabs on this, and update whenever any new information is revealed.
