MDb news since 1996.
Today yielded a small bounty of Metroid goodness for fans with regards to the Wii U. As was expected, no new Metroid game was announced, but we did get some good looks at Metroid Blast from Nintendo Land as well as a rather amusing cameo from Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
Nintendo Land: If you look closely at the gunship, you can see the serial number from Other M.
Also, while not a Metroid reference, here are some pics from Balloon Trip Breeze. This is based on Balloon Fight, a game Yoshio Sakamoto created prior to working on Metroid.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2: In this game the Tekken cast of characters have new Nintendo themed costumes available to them. Based on Super Smash Brothers, the known costumes based on Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, Fox McCloud, and Zero Suit Samus. There will probably be more down the line, and we will continue to update as we know more. I took some screenshots from the trailer, but we will upload higher quality assets once they're available.
Now for some screenshots that don't relate to Metroid, but are of games that are being made by Metroid series developers.
Game & Wario: A new game from Yoshio Sakamoto's team and Intelligent Systems, this game features Wario and his friends trying to hit it rich by making games revolving around the Wii U Game Pad.
Ninja Gaiden III: Razor's Edge: A revamped version of Ninja Gaiden III by Team Ninja, this game attempts to fix all the errors of the original version. Allegedly Nintendo has been overseeing this revamp, so you can be sure that it'll be something special at least.
