MDb news since 1996.
MDb Forum user AlphonseDaya brought to our attention this eloquent series on Metroid Other M. I'm sure there are some out there that are absolutely sick to death of videos like this, picking every minute of the game apart, scene-for-scene. And you completely have the freedom to not watch it. But on the other hand, you don't see reactions with this kind of quality happen very often. The last game series that I can think of that caused such an uproar in the fanbase was for Mass Effect 3, and what did Bioware do? They acknowledged their fans' concerns. I don't quite ever remember Nintendo releasing public statements to their fans about the negative reactions, other than a very blanketed, "We're interested in hearing your opinions," only shortly after the game's release.
So of course, take these videos as you will (I've posted the first of five). They will either convince you completely, or make your blood boil, or you might just dismiss everything he says. For someone like myself, I tend to take a more empathetic opinion with MOM, leaning towards the favor of the developers themselves, who, despite communication problems amongst three different studios, translation issues, Japanese storytelling vs. American storytelling, hardware and time constraints, and Sakamoto admitting to being completely inexperienced with 3D game development, created a fun, yet flawed experience. I will never dismiss MOM as "completely worthless" as these videos do. But it can't be taken back, and the only thing we can do from this game is learn from its supposed abhorrent mistakes.
