MDb news since 1996.
3DS Ambassadors no longer get the fun of being the only ones with Metroid on their 3DS. Nintendo has released the original NES Metroid today for the 3DS Virtual Console for a penny short of $5. Some people have noticed a few differences between the VC version and the original, and we have a thread about it for those interested. One of the additions is the Select button has been mapped to Y.
Metroid was one of the first Famicom Disk System games. Check out this cool icon for Japanese 3DS Metroid:
Hey Nintendo, how about you release Zero Mission on the 3DS, too?
UPDATE: For the 3DS Ambassadors that already have Metroid on their systems, an update is available for you. Just go onto the Nintendo eShop channel, and click the "View List" option which lets you download the update. Similar to the update for Super Mario Bros., you can now stop and save your game at any time, allowing you to continue your progress at a later time. The channel icon has also been updated to an NES and a CRT television.
