Here's the first 3 'chapters', more to come. Chapter 1 The little girl was awoken by a bad dream at 2:45 in the morning. She had decided to go to her father about it. She was about 9 years old. Her mother had died when she was four. Ever since then she had been living with her father at the space colony on K-2L. She wandered past the kitchen; she noticed her father was in there. He was talking on the video phone "Hi there honey, bad dream again?" He asked his daughter. She responded with a nod before approaching him. Unfortunately half way there the warning Klaxon sounded. The man went to the video-phone to find out what was going on. "What is it?" He asked. "It's the space pirates." Said the man on the screen. "I thought they had stopped at Zebes." "So did we." Next thing to happen was a massive explosion. The man yelled to his daughter. "Samus, run and hide." Samus ran out, frightened, carrying with her her stuffed bear. Ships were landing and a huge dragon type creature landed as well, with his long tail flailing around. The Dragon said to the pirates, "Kill them," He hissed, "Don't leave a single one alive. Samus ran toward a cave, but she looked back to see her home destroyed. Her heart sank to her stomach and she stopped, briefly, unable to continue. Unfortunately The Dragon looked her way and looked with a sly eye on her. She stumbled to the cave, the dragon's eye following her the whole way. Samus went as far as she could before finding a large bird type statue. She topped there and sat down leaning on the statue, holding her bear tightly, crying. Meanwhile the pirates were laying waste to everything they saw. They burned and pillaged and took all they could. When they had destroyed everything one pirate said to the dragon, "Ridley, we have killed them all, and salvaged all that's worth having." Ridley hissed "No. You fool. If you would keep an eye on everything rather than things on had, you would have seen the little girl escape into that cave. Go, leave, I will tend to her, you incompetent fool." The remaining pirates left, the dragon went to the entrance to the cave, knowing that a cave so old wouldn't go very far, he blew fire inside to torch whoever was in there. The fire reached Samus, but a large object blocked most of the flame, protecting her. Rescue teams arrived a few hours later and discovered one survivor, Samus in the hands of the statue, clinging to her bear. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 2 Seven years later Samus was still grieving the loss of her father. Having only her memory left, barely remembering her mothers face, she was constantly haunted by that fateful day. Her dreams were constantly haunted by that dragon, and seeing her home destroyed, with he father within. Tears ran down her cheek as she held her bear tighter, wanting to never forget that day, but wanting to forget it as well. She closed her eyes and pictured her fathers face that morning, when she wandered into the kitchen, and he asked her if she had had a bad dream, and all of the times before then. "Samus," came a voice, "Samus?" "What." She responded weakly, opening her eyes and wiping away the tears. "I still don't see why you want to go back; all there will be are bad memories." "They are memories all the same." She responded, more tears going down her cheek. "I can barely remember my mothers face. I need to remember again." The tears ran more heavily now. "Maybe ... something is left. I ... have ... to ... try." She started to cry heavily now. "Samus." He said sympathetically. "I hope you find what your looking for then. We'll be approaching K-2L in a few minutes, that's when we find out if we can even land. You do understand the risks here right, the pirate may still patrol the area." "I know." She said, with the tears subsiding some. "All right, I'll leave alone now." "Thank you." She said weakly. The man was actually, her boyfriend, Mac Thomas. He was a year older than her and had lived in the same orphanage she did. Mac had never known his father. His father had been a drug addict and died of an overdose. His mother was a scientist. They were always traveling around. But his mother died a couple years ago on SR-388. That's when he and Samus met, she was still effected by that day seven years earlier. Mac comforted her. They were on their way to K-2L, Samus wanted to see what was left and remember what she couldn't. One question she had was what had saved her from the flames. The events had been buried, she wanted to know. They arrived at K-2L with no Pirate resistance. The pilot set them down near Samus's ruined home. Samus exited and went to the ruins. She found some old pictures and a photo album, damaged but still they brought tears of joy to her eyes, seeing her mothers face again, remembering the good times. She looked over at the cave she had crawled into and went in to explore. Mac followed her but when she reached the end, where the statue was a bubble closed off the entrance leaving Samus trapped inside. Mac, meanwhile, after trying to open the "door", left to go get help. The statue came to life, and came after Samus, to attack the intruder. Samus put her right arm up in an instinctive way, in doing so the mark on her shoulder was visible to the creature. The creature looked at it then, looked at Samus's frightened face, and saw, something, familiar. It immediately halted its attack and approached her. It grabbed her shoulder for a better look. "Ahh." It said intrigued. "You were the one who came here, seven of your years ago. That mark on your arm, I gave it to you." "What do you mean?" She asked, withdrawing her arm. "When the fire came I protected you, but you wee still badly burned. You were going to die, so I used an ancient Chozo technique called the Crystal Flash to restore your body. When I did so it left you with that mark, and also infused you with the blood of the Chozo. Haven't you ever wondered why you were so much faster, stronger and smarter than others of your race? It's the Chozo blood." "The Chozo became extinct centuries ago. This is impossible." Samus responded. "Ahh my dear, we merely withdrew to observing. Most stayed on Zebes, but some wandered away, like me, to observe other places, away from home." "Zebes..." Samus said remembering something, "when the Pirates attacked we were unprepared, we had believed they had stopped when they raided Zebes." "No" the Chozo said sadly. "Not home. They would have been unable to defend themselves. Surely they must have been slaughtered. Home, gone, destroyed." "Not destroyed, but now plundered by the Pirates, probably a wasteland now." "Then I fear the worst, but, some may survive, hidden, or locked off with doors." Suddenly their 'reunion' was halted by the sound of weapons fire and explosions.\ "The Pirates have come back; they must have detected our ship." Samus said shocked. "I have to go help them." "They will kill you, unless, come with me." The Chozo went to the wall and opened the bubble to the next room. Samus followed him in. "Here take this suit and gun. It is Chozo made but with your blood, should be useful. Many Chozo who left Zebes took many items with them. This suit should allow you to use them. I created it after you came to test on humans to help them, alas; I realized that Chozo blood is necessary to use the items other Chozo possess. It should fit you. Take it and go. Shoot the door to leave." Samus put it on and left hastily, forgetting the helmet. When she exited the cave she found the dragon holding Mac, asking what they were doing there. "Put him down!" Samus yelled. The dragon looked over and recognized her face. "You' he hissed. "How did you survive?" Samus shot him saying, "Put him down!" One of the pirates asked, "Ridley, should I take care of this puny human?" Ridley responded "do with her as you wish." Samus then disposed of the pirates quickly. "Fine I'll kill you my self." He threw Mac aside. Samus unloaded on Ridley. "You win this one girl but before I leave I have unfinished business." Ridley said before stabbing Mac to death with his tail and leaving. Samus ran to Mac, but he was already dead. Samus was both Pissed and sad. She went back to the Chozo for help. The Chozo gave her the helmet that she forgot and told her he could do no more. Samus took the transport ship to one of the outer colony stations to be retrofitted, so she could get revenge on the Space Pirates. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Interlude 1: Metroid Two years earlier there was an expedition to the outer fringe planets. One of the planets visited was a planet called SR-388. SR-388 had never been explored before then. The expedition first researched the life forms near the surface. They were life forms that they had never been seen before, but no unique. They continued into the caves of the planet, and found some creatures that were violent. There they had their first casualty. Some scientists pulled out but some remained, with guard. They went further into the planet, but not long after they ran into a problem, they had discovered a life form that fed on them, draining their life from them. Only a few escaped. They would have left, except, they saw an injured one re-energized by one that had not even fed yet. They found the need to further research on the life form they named 'Metroid'. They waited a few months for a small cargo ship to arrive before going in to retrieve one. When they went in they were almost completely wiped out. It took 1 year and a half more to get a Metroid out. Unfortunately, by then the space pirates had discovered the attempts. They were waiting, and they intercepted the transport and stole the Metroid. The Galactic Federation tracked them to Zebes. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 3 The president of the Galactic Federation was having a bad day, and it was about to get a whole lot worse. A man came storming into his office. "Sir," the man said, "the third team failed to retrieve the metroid, they made it into Norfair but we lost contact as they entered. It's been three weeks since last contact." "We're Doomed." The president said. "they will surly unleash the Metroids on us and we will all die. We can't stop them." "Sir, may I speak my mind." "Go ahead." "A bounty hunter might succeed." "That's crazy! If our specialists couldn't do it surly a single hunter would fail." "What about that Aran one." "Aran, yes Aran might be the one, but you know she'll ask a heavy price." "We can pay it." "Fine get me miss Aran." It had been two years since Samus had seen Mac murdered. She had had the transport customized. She quickly had gained a reputation for success, and asked a heavy price for her work. She was looking at her 'dashboard' where she had posted pictures of her parents and Mac. She had tears running down her cheek, but, inside she felt anger, regret, and sadness. She saw the transmission light come on and snapped back to the present. "Samus here" She answered "Samus Aran," the president said, "We need you to go to Zebes and retrieve the metroid Ridley stole.' "Ridley?" "Yes. Ridley, he went to Zebes. I'll send you a current map. We believe he resides in Norfair. We don't know because we only have radio communication in Brinstar. You should be able to enter via the continent of Crateria, here" he pointed to the map of Zebes' surface. "What's the bounty for getting the Metroid?" "Whatever you want, it's yours. Just retrieve the Metroid. Good luck. Out."
